Before I talk about the film, I have to mention the “eccentric” M. Knight Shyamalan. A strong director in the suspense thriller genre, Shyamalan has a very personal style of filmmaking. The Sixth Sense, which is familiar to everyone, is a masterpiece of reversal. or the critically acclaimed Split a few years ago. He has always been able to bring together those sly and bizarre ideas to make something unexpected.

The new film we’re talking about today is said to have been inspired by the graphic novel “The Sandcastle” by French artists Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. The story takes place on an uninhabited beach in a pleasant landscape. A group of tourists are invited to this beach for a holiday because they have won an invoice. Among this group of tourists. There is a family of four, Mr and Mrs Capa and their daughter Mads, their son Trent.

There was also the Charles family, doctors, and the young black rapper and Chinese Jay couple. All they should have been thinking about was how to spend their perfect holiday. Until the next scene took them completely by surprise. The brother of the family of four, Trent, is swimming when he runs into a white faced female body. Little would they know that this would be the start of all the tragedy. Where did the dead woman come from? It turned out that she was the rapper’s companion. The two had come together to meditate on this beach for the purpose of curing their mental illness.

As the girl insisted on going out on the beach by herself. The rapper said he couldn’t stop her either, and then after that she was never seen. It happened that Trent found her, only to have turned into a corpse. The rapper saw the same look of disbelief and horror. But even so, no one could rule out suspicion of him. Just then, Raw Charles tried to cross the cave to find the driver who had brought them here. He ended up inside the cave cavern, but somehow passed out himself. And Jay, a manic Chinese man on the beach, also inexplicably drowned while trying to swim across the shore. The circumstances of his death were identical to those of the rapper’s female companion.

More bizarre still is the current state of the Capas’ children and Charles’ daughter Kayla. These three children, who were clearly five years old when they arrived at the beach, magically grew up in an instant. There was nothing like the height, size or appearance of a five year old child. Of course, both the Capas and the Charleses were also growing old rapidly. Charles’s elderly mother had even suffered a sudden cardiac arrest.

Things were becoming more and more uncontrollable. After some speculation, a “wah-wah” is finally discovered. The time on the deserted beach was clearly flawed, as half an hour here was the equivalent of a year in the normal world! There was no doubt that everyone in the room would have aged 50 years in less than a day. And in less than two days, they could die of old age! There was no time to lose, and if they didn’t do something about it, they would have to wait here to die!

Although everyone has to grow old one day, who would have ever thought that one day they would grow old in such a way? I guess no one else would have been able to accept it. But never in a million years did I expect that the bad situation would continue. The physically mature Trent and Charles’ daughter, Kayla, actually had sex by accident.

Within minutes of having sex, Kayla immediately became pregnant. That’s right, Kayla was pregnant. What’s more, she even gave birth within an hour …… Unfortunately, there was no medical care available on the beach. This poor newborn baby was not breathing only a few minutes after she was born. Already on edge, everyone was now even more anxious and upset. Strangely enough, that’s when Charles, the doctor, also appeared different. He started to become more and more irritable and strange after his mother died of cardiac arrest, muttering all the time.

It turns out that the only doctor on the beach is sick himself, suffering from a hidden psychosis. A series of strange events around him caused him to have a sudden psychotic break and stab the rapper to death. In a fit of insanity, he tries to stab the Capa family. When he fails to notice, he is killed by the Capa’s wife. Charles’ daughter, Kayla, also escaped, when she tried to climb up the cliff to the top. A loss of weight killed her in a vicious fall. If the deaths of Charles and his daughter were tragic enough, his wife could be described as even more tragic. She had undergone too much plastic surgery in her youth, and in this place of rapid ageing, the cells in her body were reversed and mutated at an accelerated rate by time. In the end, she died of bone fractures all over her body ……

Everything was like a nightmare that couldn’t be stopped. The poor Kappa and his wife died of the accelerated age of time. Until finally the only two people left on the beach were the Kappa siblings. They watched their parents fall alive and not breathing. They watched their companions fall to their deaths, and they watched the elders they had travelled with die violently one after another. Terrified and frightened, Trent and Mads clung to each other while their desire for life grew stronger. They decided to calm down and think about it all, and try to find any trace of an escape from this horrible beach.

Finally, the siblings remembered what had happened before they came to the beach. A child they had bumped into at the beach resort, the nephew of the beach resort manager. The boy had enthusiastically played a word game with the siblings, but as they were in a hurry to leave, the word game was only half played. Little did he know that the word game would be a “life-saving charm”! Trent hurriedly took out the paper of the puzzle and, based on the symbols, solved the meaning of the words on the picture. “My uncle doesn’t like coral”, the answer to the puzzle hidden in the word game, gave the two siblings hope!

Trent and Mads swam out along the coral bush at the far end of the coast; and managed to escape! After all the absurdity of the experience. They were already fifty years old when they returned to the normal world. So what on earth had put them through all this hell? It turns out it was a huge conspiracy about the Warren Pharmaceuticals. This abominable drug company lured people to this horrible beach to study the changes of time acceleration on people’s bodies. They have made these people invisible subjects for their experiments!

A thriller with sci-fi medical elements, Shyamalan once again brings everyone the surprise and excitement of a blind box. At the same time, Shyamalan is, as always, the same director who has received polarizing reviews from the outside world. The critical reception of the film has been mixed. But for Shyamalan, he has once again experimented with his brainy idea of the fear and powerlessness that comes with ageing. Even though everyone grows old sooner or later. But life is suddenly condensed and has to be consumed in a single day. Who would want to accept such hopelessness and despair.
