Monster Hunter review: Paul Anderson ” 10 years of dedication to his wife “

For director Paul Anderson, Monster Hunter follows through on his creative mission: my wife is invincible!

Back then, Resident Evil 5 was so bad that everyone thought the series would become extinct, but Paul Anderson came back with Resident Evil 6, a “10-year gift to his wife”, as they say in the world. Milla Jovovich (left) and Paul Anderson (right)

The Resident Evil series is over, but wives are meant to be spoiled for life, so let’s start another Monster Hunter series. So let’s all lower our expectations when watching Monster Hunter, a film that blatantly feeds dog food in the cinema, where everything in the film is the director’s loving thoughts for his wife Jovovich.

Once we’ve worked out this logical relationship, Monster Hunter is still passable by popcorn movie standards alone.

Wife Milla Jovovich and her husband complement each other, and over the years, she has been one of the top actresses who has seamlessly transformed from the “second” to the “third” genre, starting with “Resident Evil”. Whether it’s the legendary “Resident Evil” series or the criticised “Hellboy – Rise of the Blood Queen” the other day, fans of the games and comics have rarely been able to blame Jovovich. After all, the actress has been in more films of this type than she has, not as well as she has, and better than she has, for a while. For the sake of his wife, director Paul Anderson is willing to go out on a limb, so to speak, for anything.

Game fans’ reputation in his eyes is not important, the important thing is that the film to show the wife’s character in the film in many ways, to shape the character arc, to be tough, brave, open-minded, tender hearted, kind, have the big picture and all the other qualities, through the “tool man” and “tool monster” in “Monster Hunter”, to be exposed.

As a result, the hunters are the underdogs in this film, and the monsters are vicious, brutal and deceitful, so that the wife’s growth can be shown directly through thrills and sacrifices. For example, in the sequence where she is chased by a horcrux and attacked by ants, the heroine Jovovich is sophisticated and calm, in contrast to the other female soldier.

At the same time it shows that she is extremely good at inspiring her personality, making her team sing, dispelling fears and being trusted by the male team members. When Tony Jaa’s local man is about to fall into the spider’s nest, Jovovich comes to his rescue and the two of them turn the situation into a happy one. In addition to this, when Jovovich escapes from the spider’s nest, the director gives his wife a long sequence to psychologically portray her. Curled up in a ball, crying, then gunpowder for her wounds, then to the heights, testing the horcruxes.

To be honest, Jovovich has adapted extremely well to this other world, and within a few days is on a par with Tony Jaa, who grew up here. Hearing this, the aborigines came running with their forty-metre swords. So while watching the film, you know, don’t think that logic doesn’t make sense here and there, unlike the game. Love is illogical.

So, is there anything about Monster Hunter that makes the viewer watch and laugh, the kind of laugh that is a proper laugh, not a plot leak brass, or a non-reduction on the game? Of course there is. You can even see an older version of Claude Strife in Monster Hunter (the Grand Master doesn’t look like the Grand Master, he looks like Claude, and no one else) Yes, we remember Claude Stryfe as. And in Monster Hunter, there is a character that is extremely similar to him, he is the Grand Master and looks like this. Although not in the game, the reversion feels like it runs off into an older version of Final Fantasy, much to the delight of the audience. So, it’s nice to see how the director and the heroine show their love for each other, which is not a “plus” in a normal movie. However, there is a very raw, tongue-in-cheek Chinese joke in the film. For me, it was unacceptable and unacceptable. Learn about the Western attitude, give up your illusions and fight back independently and autonomously!
