The film remake of the best-selling novel by American author Garth Stein was released in the US and did very well at the box office. The original book not only spent 156 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, but also reached record prices in Italy, Germany, Spain, Russia, the Netherlands and Portugal. It has been described as “the most touching masterpiece of 2008 in global publishing”. The main character of the film is a big, goofy, goofy golden, and the voice of veteran actor Kevin Costner is an absolute highlight of the film. Enzo’s owner is also very strong, he is Milo Ventimiglia, who had a great performance in the hit series “One of Our Days”. This time around, Milo Ventimiglia is set in the factory as Danny, a passionate professional race car driver. On his way home after a race he enters a farm where Danny meets the golden retriever in a sea of dog mountains and dogs. They met each other at first sight.
Danny named the Golden “Enzo”, the same name as the founder of Ferrari. Enzo considers himself to be more of a human soul, but also a racing driver’s soul. This was evident from the first time Enzo watched a race and he simply loved the sport. Danny got the message and he held Enzo’s little paws to simulate driving a race car: right foot on the gas, turn and slow down ……
It’s not a family affair. Danny made a point of taking Enzo to a real race track, which was more exciting than he could have imagined, and it was heaven. Every race Danny has raced since then has had Enzo in the grandstand waiting for Danny’s triumph. Life as a dog flew by, Enzo went from puppy boy to handsome dog lad and he thought he and Danny would live like this for the rest of their lives. Until Danny fell in love, and that’s when Enzo got a new lady, Eve.
A few years later, Enzo had another young master, Zoe. As the big brother, Enzo is Zoe’s guardian and is not known for being the warmest of dogs. The family of four lived happily ever after. Danny continued to work hard at his passion, racing, and Eve supported him unconditionally. One day, however, Eve fell ill with a brain tumour. Despite the family’s reluctance, Eve left one night in the dead of night. Only Enzo was with Eve that night as she walked through the final moments of her life and Eve said her final goodbyes. Eve’s departure was like a rainstorm for Danny, a racing driver, and he couldn’t see the road ahead. But that’s not the worst of it. Just as Eve is laid to rest, Danny’s parents-in-law are fighting with Danny for custody of Zoe. The nakedness of the situation is such that Danny, who is not yet over his grief at the death of his wife, has to face the pain of being separated from his daughter again.
It was a fight that could not be tolerated. In the course of the argument with his father-in-law, he was accidentally injured, which gave him a good excuse to win the case, which he had no chance of winning. As a result, Danny was also banned from seeing his daughter for three months. On the one hand, in case he loses the case and loses Zoe completely, and on the other hand, he can still see his daughter occasionally by giving up custody. Danny needed to calm down and that night, Danny and Enzo were running in a rainstorm. Enzo was crossing the road without paying attention to oncoming traffic and was involved in a car accident.
Although Enzo’s life was not in danger for the time being, Enzo’s age was there and the accident brought death early. Enzo’s accident caused Danny to compromise on the incident with his daughter, but Enzo disagreed with Danny’s decision, believing that this was not something that Danny, the courageous racer, would do. So Enzo took a bite out of the agreement and ran out of the house to tear it to pieces. Danny instantly understood Enzo’s intentions and decided he couldn’t let the old man down.
The lawsuit was won and Zoe finally returned to Danny and Enzo, but Enzo was at the end of his life, but he wasn’t afraid of this moment, something Eve had taught him. Danny understood that for Enzo, who grew up loving racing, there were few things better than getting in a race car himself and flying around the track. At that moment the past came flooding back, it was Danny’s life, but Enzo’s life.
The cover of the original book has a quote that says: “You, who read that part and sobbed? In terms of the film, I think it’s the scene at the end of the film where a young boy with the same name as Enzo comes to Danny, who is already a famous driver, to ask for his autograph. It’s a heartwarming ending, where the dog with a human soul becomes a human being in his next life and stands in front of his beloved master, a real “human dog love” scene.
At this moment, I shed tears in front of the screen. As you can see, this is a film from the point of view of a dog, and there are tears and laughs in it. For example, Enzo’s wish that the baby would look like him when he is on Eve’s belly feeling the movement of the foetus is so cute that it explodes.
For example: deliberately asking his father-in-law for pepper to give Danny a piece of his mind and then stinking on the carpet, which makes him green in the face. There’s also Enzo and his bitchy enemy Zebra, which is also hilarious to watch. The film is not only about the theme of a dog’s loyalty to its human, but also about Enzo’s approach to life. Enzo says: I treat my dog’s life like a race car, focusing on the moment, enjoying the moment, not obsessing about whether the last turn was perfect or not, not being afraid of a sudden rainstorm blocking my vision, so that I can be a good driver and live my dog’s life well.
